Respect

Ask a streetwise Mafioso how to get instant respect. Be a "stand-up" guy.
Respect is earned. Never given. It's part of a lifestyle you live and an image you project.
1. Dress the Part. A well fitted Italian $1000 suit (One of the best: $4000 Brioni). $400 shoes. Period.
2. Keep Silent. Listen. Be discrete and mysterious. Say only what needs to be said. Less is more.
3. Don't lie. Say "I can't really comment," if you don't know something. Admit your shortcomings.
4. Never Smile. Men of caution don't grin. Show you are a very serious guy whose not easily impressed.
5. Confidence/Humility. Swagger. Posture. Manner. Look 'em in the eye. Never brag. Credit your crew.
6. Be Polite. Reciprocate respect/courtesy. Refinement. Class. Being guarded does mean being impolite.
7. Have a Good Memory. Remember names and something about their children.
