Charles Hannon

Associate Dean / Professor,
Washington & Jefferson

"Professor of Computing and Information Studies, my present focus involves teaching courses in IT & Society, Human-Computer Interaction, Project Management, and Information Visualization. I'm passionate about the history of technology, the intersections between language, technology, and culture. I began my academic career as an English professor, which lead to authoring several articles about American literature and culture, and the book, Faulkner and the Discourses of Culture (2005). I teach my department's Capstone service-learning course, CIS 400, which places our students into local community organizations to address critical IT needs. Students have volunteered to work with Washington area district teens like Barton James' Penn State YET (Youth Engaged in Technology) after-school programs."
