1997 AD USA CONTACT MOVIE WORMHOLE MACHINE
The Machine from Contact (1997), Robert Zemeckis's film of Carl Sagan's novel: a single-passenger pod dropped through three concentric, rapidly spinning rings whose electromagnetic field opens a wormhole, built to a design the story's aliens transmit to Earth via decoded radio signal. Sagan drew on the Caltech physicist Kip Thorne's real research into traversable wormholes for the screenplay, and Jodie Foster, playing the astronomer Ellie Arroway, took part in some of the production's scientific consultation.
