1521 AD MEXICO MAYAN DRESDEN CODEX
A folded section of the Dresden Codex, oldest of the four surviving pre-Columbian Maya books and the finest in execution, its 39 leaves carrying the 260-day Tzolkin ritual calendar along with astronomical tables tracking Venus and eclipses. It reached the Dresden court library in 1739, bought as a curiosity described only as a "Mexican book," and was identified as Maya work more than a century later.
