1543 AD PRUSSIA NICOLAS COPERNICUS

1543 AD PRUSSIA NICOLAS COPERNICUS

De revolutionibus orbium coelestium, Nicolaus Copernicus's argument for a heliocentric universe, printed at Nuremberg by Johannes Petreius and finished by 20 April 1543. Georg Joachim Rheticus had moved to Nuremberg to oversee the printing and its 142 woodcut diagrams before handing proofreading to the Lutheran pastor Andreas Osiander; Copernicus is said to have received a copy of the finished book only on his deathbed.
