700 BC SUMER EPIC OF GILGAMESH
The Epic of Gilgamesh, a text whose flood narrative closely parallels the story of Noah's Ark, following Gilgamesh, king of Uruk, and Enkidu, a wild man sent by the gods to check his oppression of Uruk's people. The best-preserved surviving copies come from the library of Ashurbanipal at Nineveh.
