KICKOFF Overview

WELCOME

  • Thanks for joining us over the term of this class.

    EXPECTATIONS

    • Introduction/Handshake
    • "Hey, How Ya doing Stuff"
    • This is a Design and Creative based course; it is NOT a course intended to teach software.
    • Learning occurs through a PATHTM lifecycle to D1SCOVERTM, D2FINETM, D3SIGNTM, D4VELOPTM and D5LIVERTM a project.
    • Software applications are introduced as a tool.
    • Provided or required software is used to realize and make tangible your design and creative vision.
    • Software requires a significant amount of learning time and will be the student's responsibility to learn.
    • Introduction/Handshake
    • Basic Skills
    • Visual Thinking
    • Art, Design and Communication
    • What Works/What's Memorable
    • Grading and Attendance Policy
    • I don't nickle and dime you with a dozen excercises you'll never see again.
    • Everything you do in this class builds to something relevant in a potential media related career.
    • Miss an assignment, you still have to go through the process anyway.
    • I don't take missed assignments personally either.
    • A student submits by deadline you get points; miss the deadline and you you don't get points. Simple.
    • Unfortunate, students miss classes and at end of semester write they didn't get enough software instruction?
    • I use YouTube. It's better than standing here talking to you - show you the real thing. Then we discuss.
    • Hard to believe students COMPLAINED about YouTube's use... it's a TOOL. Pay attention. It's relevant.
    • Good luck!
