1971 AD USA ALBERT HARRY WHEELER
Paper stellation models built in the style A. Harry Wheeler (1873-1950) pioneered as a high school mathematics teacher in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he spent four decades constructing polyhedra, including previously undiscovered stellations of the icosahedron, and teaching his students to do the same. Wheeler had been slated as a coauthor of the classic 1938 monograph The Fifty-Nine Icosahedra until a dispute with H.S.M. Coxeter over its style saw his name dropped from the title page. His surviving models are now held at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History; this card could not confirm what a 1971 date specifically marks, whether a later photograph, an exhibition, or a cataloguing event, since Wheeler himself died in 1950.
