1636 AD AUSTRIA RELIGIOUS IDENTIFIER BORDER STONE

1636 AD AUSTRIA RELIGIOUS IDENTIFIER BORDER STONE

A one-metre boundary stone marking a property line between land held by Vienna's Jewish community and land belonging to the Christian hospital of St Marx: a cross above a circled cross for the hospital, a Hebrew inscription, and a hexagram, the Magen David of the Kehila, below. The year is cut into the stone itself in both the Christian and Jewish calendars, and reads 1636 there. An earlier pass on this card carried the date as 1656, a transcription error in the archive filename; the stone's own carved date is the one the card now follows.
