1533 AD ITALY EUCLID S ELEMENTS
A page from a 16th-century printed edition of Euclid's Elements, the geometry textbook compiled around 300 BC that remained the standard introduction to the subject in Europe for two thousand years. Printed editions multiplied rapidly after Erhard Ratdolt's first in Venice in 1482; this card could not confirm which of the several editions in circulation by 1533 the archive image was drawn from.
